IN MEMORIAM…BOB DAVIS

Posted by admin at September 27th, 2008

In the fall of 1978, a very young Randy Arnayro arrived on the campus of Cal State Long Beach to begin his freshman year.  He joined the Cal State Long Beach Marching Band, “The Big Brown Music Machine”, his idol of idol’s in terms of marching bands.   He also pledged Phi Mu Alpha fraternity that fall.

He had  the honor of meeting a Bob Davis, some kid who transferred from LBCC and played trombone.  Over the next 4 years they would travel on band tours together, pulled fraternity pranks together and terrorized the CSULB campus with their campus hi jinx.

Today I learned that Bob passed away last week.  He lost his battle with liver cancer.   I got out some of the old pictures and there we were….young, skinny with big goofy smiles on our faces ready to take on the world.

Rest well Bob.

SARAH PALIN AND TALL

Posted by admin at September 1st, 2008

John McCain has selected a vice presidential running mate.  She is Sarah Palin, Governor of the State of Alaska.   Since the announcement, there have been so many things that have come up.  I won’t mention them here.  Oh heck, who am I kidding?  Let’s dish the dirt shall we?

A).  The daughter….Bristol….need we say anymore?  The GOP and its religious right are veiling this in the “no abortion she kept the baby” nonsense.  Rigggght.  “Kids…get the scarlet letter out, OK?”   Further questions…where is the boyfriend and if it’s true that Bristol will marry him, why weren’t they at a press conference, standing together with their “What Would Jesus Do?” bracelets on display.

B).   She faces accusations of firing public safety commissioner Walt Monegan in what amounts to a messy Palin family drama dating to her pre-gubernatorial days. Monegan had refused to fire a state trooper who had divorced Palin’s sister.

C).   The experience thing….if Grandpa McCain passes on while president, can a two year governor of Alaska really step into the position?

Senator McCain, in selecting a VP for this campaign you obviously were looking at other things besides experience and a clean bill of health (scandal-wise).  Mavericks?  No.  Careless background checks?  Maybe.  Checking out her boobs?  Absolutely.

That is all.  Over and out.
