LD baked two pumpkin cream cheese pies and I did two traditional pumpkin pies. Diego is happy and is waiting to go over the river and through the woods (or up the freeway anyway).
I’m thinking that this has been an amazing (great astonishment) year. I want it to be crystal clear. Amazing to me does not mean wonderful. It means what it means…great astonishment.
In March, the Blur of Fur became a part of our family. He has settled in nicely and I couldn’t imagine our lives without him.
In May, our life changed and California took the lead in offering equality for all its citizenry. In June, we took part in the great rite of passage and got married. In October, we had a grand celebration with all our family and friends.
In November, there was great happiness and anticipation that things in our country will finally change for the better. However, the question equal rights for the citizens of California was called into question. I am ready to move to Connecticut.
As LD, Diego and I make our way to Sun City and Chula Vista to celebrate the day, I wanted to take time to reflect on the enormity of the year. It was filled with great joy and filled with disappointment. And for ALL this, I am thankful.
Now, I’ll stop blubbering and its on to turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing and pie! Times 2!

5:30 am…early on Election Day morning.
Diego’s supper dish also masks as an I-Phone from No on Prop. 8 headquarters. LD, SD and Diego are huddled over the kibble, listening to final instructions. A GeorgeTakeiEllenDegeneres-like voice wafts over the Casa. It is full of hope, optimism and has a trick or treat prank-like quality.
“Your assingment, LD, SD and Diego, should you decide to take it, is to rise early on Election Day and convince the Red Voters of Escondido to vote NO on Prop. 8. This message will self-destruct in 5 seconds.”
Message received and the minions swiftly dress in true black (which is the noire black of this season). LD watches proudly over his charges and begins the assault plan…
LD: “SD..do you have the spikes?”
SD: “Check!”
LD: “Diego, do you have the flashlight?”
Diego: “Woof” (translated means yes)
LD: “Our assault on Red City Escondido now begins. Synchronize your watches and return to Casa at 6:15 am.
